About Us

For the past 40 years I have been working hard for somebody else. I was an enthusiastic, hard-working dedicated employee. Over the years I changed my profession many times, always hoping, but somehow always knowing that one day I would run my own business. I never really knew exactly what the business would be but there was one thing I knew for sure – I wanted to help others.

Most recently I worked for a large corporation and had a very stressful job. Many of my colleagues and friends so desperately wanted to get out of the rat race, myself included. We would have many discussions about ways that we could do this. I was the first to take that giant leap. I just could not keep on doing what I was doing, there was no drive, no motivation and definitely no passion left.

I left my corporate job and took some time off to tend to a couple of projects that I had always dreamed of doing; writing a book and marketing a board game that I had invented more than 20 years ago. While I had this time off I found myself time and time again engaging in discussions with others about how to get out of the rat race; how to start a home-based business and how to gain freedom. During this time I also met a lot of people that had their own home-based or small businesses. I realized that networking groups had become an extremely popular trend and that through referrals people were really starting to see their businesses grow.

My drive to want financial independence coupled with wanting to help others attain the same thing is what lead to the conception of “Small Biz Home Biz United”. My wife Lesley and I are very passionate about this venture; we know this is what we were meant to do. We have a sincere wish to work hand-in-hand with other small and home businesses as we support each other and take our businesses to the next level. We also own a gift basket business which is our family business and so we truly understand the many challenges that small business owners face daily.
We, along with the other Small Biz Home Biz United members all share the same vision and work together in order that we can provide a network of like-minded entrepreneurs as we all take that giant leap forward together.
